New Arrivals: Cows Starve but Vid Geeks Feast on New Sites

We can only hope that Farm Journal Media's Beef Today tried to nab Moo.com for its new Web site. Actually, the URL is taken by a digital document consultant, which BeefToday.com might have hired to jazz up its uninspired site. It is part of the larger AgWeb network of farming and livestock industry destinations, but the site does precious little to leverage the medium. BeefToday.com tries to complement the print magazine with a daily news story, a scant helping of Web-only material and a repurposed print piece or two. Ho, hum... Primedia's BroadcastEngineering.com comes online this month making a better first impression. Multiple newsletters, a buyer's guide and an online demo section are available from the left hand nav bar. We also like the fact that the repurposed print content is parsed into ten nicely targeted "Applications/Solutions" areas. If you are going to re-use content online, then do it this way. Let readers access the brand in a different way. This doesn't look as if it required much in the way of new staff or resources, yet the Broadcast Engineering brand contributes a substantial new value-add for subscribers and potential readers.
