Jun. 13--Photography studio moves downtown

ST. JOSEPH -- Jessica Chabot thinks downtown St. Joseph is picture perfect for her photography business.

Chabot opened Splash Photography with Tucker in its new location at the corner of State and Broad streets in downtown St. Joseph on June 4.

She said she bought Tucker Classic Photography from William Tucker last August after having worked off-and-on for him since 1996. Tucker's studio was next to his house on Puetz Road near Stevensville, so Chabot operated the business there until making the move. She bought the retail space on the first floor and basement. It was previously occupied by Great Lakes Interiors, which went out of business last year.

Chabot said there are three photo studios on the first floor plus space to host children's birthday parties and for bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready before a wedding on the beach, the bluff or at a church. In addition weddings, families and graduation photos, other Splash Photography specialities include portraits for business cards, sports and special events such as team photos, and infants.

Tucker remains with the business as lead photographer. The other photographers are Chabot and studio manager Michelle Ballard.

Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m..-2 p.m. on Saturdays and by appointment. The phone number is 429-7673.

The Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon-cutting at 11:30 a.m. Friday, followed by an open house from 5 to 7 p.m.
